Simple Summer Fun

The kids have shown an interest in tennis this summer, so we have made a few trips to the new tennis courts here in town to hit a few balls.

We tried a recipe for sidewalk paint and found it works quite well and is very inexpensive.

Our hang-out for the summer....Blue Mound State Park. It's just a couple miles outside of Luverne and is an easy spur-of-the-moment trip to make. We've made our share of sand castles and moats.

We made it out to Silver Lake (near Okoboji, IA) to visit my sister Mel and her kids. This is a picture of everyone taking a break after playing some tennis......if you could call it that!

Summer Sports

Elise and Anja were in gymnastics this summer and Mela was in T-Ball. Griffen took a Kickin' Outdoor Fun series, but we have no picture to prove it.

Buffalo Days

For helping one of the vendors set up at the Buffalo Days Arts in the Park here in Luverne, we were given this teepee, indian outfit, drums, and several dress-up hats. Several days went by before the kids would allow mom to take down the teepee.

Mela Turns 8

Mela turned 8 on June 4th and celebrated by having a Rainbow Sleepover with a couple of her friends (Mela is wearing the Twins shirt....they all look alike after swimming). Mela frosted and decorated her own cake.

Saying Good-bye

Petra, the foreign exchange student who had stayed a weekend with us last fall, came for one more visit before going back to Slovakia. The kids enjoyed spending time with her.

The Graduate

Griffen graduated from St. John's Lutheran Little Lambs Preschool tonight. He was so excited all day. And since he was graduating, he was certain he should have special privileges all day. And this is only preschool graduation!

Ahhhh.......Rhubarb!

While I've had the chance to try a couple new rhubarb recipes recently, Mike continues to ask when I'm going to get rid of the "weeds" in the refrigerator, if that gives you any idea of his affection for rhubarb.
